National Disaster Management Authority NDMA says it has provided temporary shelter to the four residents of the Vinares apartment that burnt down in a fire earlier this morning.

The fire was reported from apartment 6 on the 13th floor of the 9th Tower of Vinares Apartments around 07:41 in the morning.

Firefighters from the Maldives National Defence Force extinguished the fire within hours and said that the fire started from a mattress in the apartment.

MNDF said that no one was hurt in the fire. It did not give any information about the cause of the fire or how it started.

NDMA had said that it was monitoring the situation as the fire had damaged the apartment beyond use and later confirmed that it would provide temporary shelter to the 4 individuals living in the apartment.

NDMA stated that it would provide food and shelter to the individuals for five days and clothes to two of the indivuduals.
