This comes after former President Mohamed Nasheed and key figures from the Democratic Party decided to join the MDP to work together in the upcoming local council elections.
In a statement, MDP said the party is open to anyone who wants to work for the country and that it was ready to move forward with Nasheed and the members who joined the party.
The MDP has said that the government's actions have derailed, and the democracy gained by the efforts of many people is in danger.
In addition, every member of the MDP will not hesitate to advocate for the sake of the country. The party has always assured that it will continue to ensure the rights guaranteed by the law that hold the government accountable.
