CEO and Managing Director, Deputy Commissioner of Police, retired, Ahmed Saudee, says the government will fund the environmentally sustainable taxi line and that the company will not bear any losses.
Responding to a shareholder's question about the taxi line at the company's annual general meeting held at the Barcelona Nasandra yesterday, Saudi said the company would introduce an environmentally friendly taxi line so that the public could buy the EVs in its fleet.
Saudi said the service was originally scheduled to be launched in July this year, but is now expected to start in August. He added that the government has pledged to invest around MVR 80 million.
As part of the efforts to start the taxi line, Saudi said the company has already found a company to manufacture electric vehicles and signed a contract with the company.
The government taxi line will use 100% environmentally friendly vehicles.
