Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has announced plans to rebuild the oldest mosque in Villimale, Masjid Al Salaam, as a modern mosque.
Minister Shaheem said a well-wisher has expressed interest in building the mosque.
He said the Ministry will task them with completing the rebuild in two years.
The Minister stated that the mosque will be constructed to include classrooms for teaching the Quran and for scientific purposes.
Currently, there are three mosques in Villimale' which house a sizable population. The space constraints in Masjid Al Salaam has been a constant concern of those living in Villimale' as the mosque is one of the oldest in the Greater Male' Area.
