The Parliament has approved appointing former TV Presenter Zamath Ahmed Waheed to the Broadcasting Commission.

Zamath topped the list of pre-approved candidates recommended by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The Parliament's Committee on Independent Enterprises convened last Thursday to interview the individuals on the President's list of potential Commission members.

Zamath scored 89. 29 out of 100 in her interview, while the closest candidate, former MD of PSM Zeena Zahir, scored 84.57 out of 100 in the interview.

The Committee decided to recommend the names of Zamath, Zeena, as well as Shimla Ibrahim, to the Parliament floor for the vacant position on the Broadcasting Commission.

During today's session, the Parliament floor decided to approve Zamath for the position with all 56 MPs voting in favour of her.

The post of Broadcasting Commission member became vacant as the term of the incumbent expired last Saturday.
