Police say they have towed more than 70 vehicles that were illegally parked on Majeedhee Magu, the busiest road in the capital Male'.
Police began towing illegally parked vehicles on Majeedhee Magu last Thursday as the vehicles affected the traffic flow and traffic congestion on the crowded road.
They said that since Thursday, they have towed 74 vehicles, including 69 two-wheelers and 5 four-wheelers.
Police said the vehicle they towed from Majeedhee Magu would only be released after 48 hours.
In addition, police have advised drivers to pay special attention to parking in designated parking zones.
Traffic police have been working to solve the problem during heavy traffic on Majeedi Road. However, parking problems on both sides of the road have caused a lot of difficulties for the public. Sometimes, parking on the road causes difficulties for MTCC bus stops and bus routes.
