The Prosecutor General's Office has filed charges at the Criminal Court against Raud Ahmed Zilal.
He was arrested in connection with the case of a young woman falling onto the rooftop of a house in Male'. He is the only person to have been detained in the young woman's case, which has captured the attention of the entire country.
The Prosecutor General's Office said that it received the case on June 4th.
It further said Raud has been charged with failing to assist a person in need without reasonable cause, as he was the last person to be seen with the victim before she fell from the 9th floor to the roof of the house next door. The PGO also said that Raud has been charged for not informing authorities about the woman's fall.
Raud faces up to 1 month and 6 days in jail if convicted. Police have previously said that Raud tested positive for cannabis.
