Public Broadcaster Public Service Media PSM is in hot water after it broadcast an Eid song from a local dance group named 'Hiyali' without its permission.
The group from Noonu Atoll Manadhoo, had released a song named 'Eid Boamathivanee' for Eid Al Adha via YouTube and other social media platforms.
The song, set in the 1990s, has been gaining popularity on all platforms. Yesterday, PSM played the video song during its Eid celebration coverage at the request of a viewer.
However, the group insisted that the public broadcaster showed their song without their permission and said that they are concerned by the broadcaster's actions.
In a post shared on social media, the group said that PSM and any other party have not been allowed to broadcast the song. The group also said it was very unprofessional to use a product without permission.
The Hiyala Group said it would take the matter very seriously and would submit it to the relevant authorities for legal action. PSM has not yet commented on the matter.
