The Bank of Maldives (BML) says it recorded 87 million card transactions across ATMs, POS, online, and cross-border payments in 2024.
In a post on X, the Bank said that out of the 87 million card transactions, 9 million were cross-border card transactions. It also said that the total transactions included 9 million e-commerce transactions.
BML further said that 14 million card transactions were completed via ATMs.
The Bank noted that most of the card transactions were completed via POS machines in stores, shops, markets, restaurants, and other consumer service establishments.
Earlier this month, BML launched its Offer Portal with special discounts at retail outlets for customers using BML cards at its POS machines.
With discounts up to 45%, BML cardholders can enjoy great offers at a wide range of retail shops, including clothing, cosmetics, and furniture as well as cafes and restaurants.
