A launch has collided with a dinghy of divers off Lhaviyani Gaaelhifaru last night, injuring more than three individuals.
Police said the incident was reported at 12:33 a.m.
They also said that the five local men on the dinghy sustained several injuries and that one of them suffered a serious injury in the collision.
Police stated that the individuals had been taken to the Lhaviyani Atoll Hospital. They added that the dinghy was damaged beyond use in the collision.
Police are further investigating the incident.
Such collisions and other accidents are not uncommon at sea in the Maldives. Recently, a foreigner lost an arm when a launch crashed into him while he was snorkeling in the sea.
