Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullah Khaleel says the administration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu will not interfere with the judiciary, nor would it undermine due process.

In a post on X, the Minister stated that this was the case with the recent dismissal of the two Supreme Court Justices by the Parliament, following the investigation by the Judicial Services Commission.

He said that the Government remains fully committed to maintaining the independence of the Judiciary and the rule of law.

The Minister ended his post by stating that one would hope and wish that those in responsible positions in the Opposition, engaging with the international community, speak on facts and the truth.

Last week, the Parliament voted to impeach two judges from the Supreme Court bench.

Supreme Court judges Dr. Azmiralda Zahir and Mahaz Ali Zahir were impeached amid calls from local and international organizations urging the Parliament to postpone the process to remove the top court judges.

The judges were impeached after they were found guilty of misconduct when they allegedly influenced lower court judges to help release Azmiralda's husband, Dr. Ismail Latheef, from custody.
