The Parliament has included a no-confidence vote against the Transport Minister, Mohamed Ameen, at today's parliamentary session.

The no-confidence vote motion was submitted with signatures from 12 MPs from MDP, citing the tragic case where a young woman fell on the rooftop of a house in Male' in the early hours of 18th April.

The motion said that MDP MPs submitted the motion because of what followed the tragic event.

The party alleged that before the fall of the young woman named Hawwa Yumn, the people involved in the incident had used drugs at Minister Ameen's house and committed illegal acts.

It also stated that it was known that two of Ameen’s family members were involved in the case, however, the police tried to hide the involvement of Ameen’s house and family members in the case.

MDP further alleged that the Minister attempted to influence the case and that he tried to save two family members from the case.

As required by the Constitution, every member of the cabinet must abide by the Constitution and the law and perform the duties assigned by the President with honesty and integrity.

Therefore, the MDP proposes to remove Ameen from the post of Transport Minister, as it is believed that the rights of the people will be lost and the security and safety of the Maldives will be disrupted.

The parliament session for today is ongoing.
