Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed says the international bunkering services have generated a revenue of MVR 7.5 million since it was first launched.

Speaking at the PNC meeting last night, Minister Saeed noted that this amount was generated in just over five months. Noting that the Maldives has been able to retain 95 percent of the revenue through the low-sulphur bunkering services, and that the demand for bunkering is increasing.

The Minister stated that the government is working to compile the laws and regulations to further streamline the service.

MTCC is providing offshore bunkering services in the Ihavandipolhu zone. STO is supplying fuel to the ships directly through the bunkering services.

STO is currently supplying diesel and low-sulfur fuel while using 3,258 tonne MT Marine Angel and 3,929 tonne MT Marine Bella to provide offshore bunkering services.
