President Dr.Mohamed Muizzu has appointed three members to the "Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Incident that Occurred in Malé on 18 April 2025," established on 27 April 2025.
The Commission was formed to investigate the fall of a 21-year-old woman onto the rooftop of a house in Male' after youth-led protests broke out in the capital, alleging police incompetence during the investigation.
The three new members were appointed after an initial member resigned from the Commission days after he was appointed. Dr. Mohamed Habeeb resigned due to conflict of interest as he is related to the suspect in the case, Raud Zilal.
The three new members are;
- Dr Moosa Murad, Malé Registry Number 641
- Jabeen Mohamed, Moonimaage, Th. Veymandoo
- Aminath Eenaas, H. Habaruge
The other two members of the Commission are Dr Mohamed Munavvar and Brigadier General (Retired) Ahmed Mohamed. The President's Office said that Dr. Munavvar would be leading the Commission.
