Youths of Male' are set to stage a protest in the Capital City tonight after a colorful display against corruption and police negligence last night.

This comes after a young woman was found on the rooftop of a house in Male' on the 21st of this month, with allegations on social media saying that the woman was raped and thrown on to the roof.

However, Police have come out to say that the woman was seen on CCTV footage with a man in the stairwell of the adjacent building and that they were both intoxicated. Police also recounted that the footage proved that the woman fell on the roof of the building next door alone.

The police account of the event sparked massive outrage on social media, with several accounts providing photos of the men involved in the 'attack' against the 21-year-old woman, and the outrage poured onto the streets last night.

Youths gathered outside the Police sub-headquarters in Henveiru and demanded justice for the young woman. They also called on the police to hold those responsible accountable for their crimes and to ensure that all the citizens are treated as per the law without bias.

The protests are on with both colorful language and gestures, and in one symbolic instant, several protesters were seen throwing money at police officers present at the scene as a way to mock how bribes and offerings corrupt the Police force.
