Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed says the bunkering business that was launched without a port is yielding positive results.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference held at the President's Office today, Saeed said that since the service was launched, it has been ongoing without interruption and that too without a designated port.

Minister Saeed said that the State Trading Organization STO began the service and that STO was still responsible for the bunkering service.

Answering questions about why the government began the service without a designated port in the first place, Minister Saeed said that the government did not want any obstacles to or excuse to delay the service.

After taking over the government, he tried to start projects that would generate revenue and address people's concerns, he said.

Saeed said he is in discussions with some local private companies operating in the country to provide banking services.
