President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has emphasised that the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) will continue to navigate the shifting winds of geopolitical change while upholding its paramount duty to safeguard the nation's peace, honour, and dignity, ensuring the protection of both the Maldivian state and its citizens from any threat.
President Dr Muizzu expressed these views in an address commemorating the 133rd anniversary of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), which is being observed today.
The President highlighted that the Maldives has remained an independent homeland under a single government thanks to the sacrifices made by those who have defended the nation's sovereignty and unity.
He acknowledged the MNDF's central role in these efforts, consistently working to protect the country and maintain national security.
The President further noted that MNDF personnel have consistently prioritised the nation and its people above their own lives and families, stepping forward in times of national crisis with dedication and commitment to protect the Maldivian people.
Highlighting the MNDF’s unyielding determination and devotion to the nation, the President expressed confidence that the nation's independence and sovereignty will remain secure as long as this unwavering commitment endures.
In a separate congratulatory message shared on his official X account, the President added that the foundation of every success and achievement by the Maldivian people lies in the country's continued independence. He credited the MNDF's passion, sacrifice, and determination for carrying the torch of Maldivian freedom forward.
