Maldives Immigration has urged foreigners working in the Maldives to ensure whether they have valid work visa while traveling to and from the country.

This comes after the Immigration ramped up its raids against illegal immigrants in the country, especially the Greater Male' area.

Immigration statistics show that authorities have nabbed 38 illegal immigrants in raids this month alone.

A further breakdown shows that 11 immigrants were arrested on a raid in a cafe on the 3rd of this month, while 6 were arrested three days later on the 6th of April.

Immigration officials raided an immigrant accommodation block the next day and detained 8 other illegal immigrants. They also reported that 8 foreigners have been detained after a raid on popular-migrant spots near the Social Center and Villimale' ferry Terminal.

That raid was conducted on the 8th of this month, and a day later, Immigration officials detained 5 foreigners from a cafe in Hulhumale'.

In addition to this operation, foreigners who are doing business and other activities in violation of the laws of the Maldives are being deported without giving any further opportunity.

More than 6,000 immigrants have been deported so far.
