The Criminal Court has released the man arrested for allegedly throwing black oil at MDP activist Mariyam Zubair (Mandhy) last month.
Police arrested 20-year-old Ahmed Rishmah last month, and he was remanded in custody for 15 days by the Court.
The Criminal Court reviewed his remand ruling yesterday after the 15 days were over and decided to release the suspect with conditions.
The Court said that the suspect was being released because he participated in a minor criminal offence and because he was cooperating with authorities in the investigation.
The incident in question happened on the night of 16th March after Mandhy left the MDP protests held that night. It was reported that two assailants on a motorbike threw black oil at the MDP activist and that they had covered their faces.
Mandhy is one of the individuals First Lady Sajidhaa Mohamed had said she would file civil charges against after comments about the First Lady and President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's 16-year-old son.
The First Lady, through her lawyers, has said that she would file charges against MDP Chairperson Fayyaz Ismail as well as MDP.
