Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a significant meeting with Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence of the United Arab Emirates, in New Delhi on Tuesday. Singh emphasized that India's Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the UAE holds "immense priority" for the country.
Taking to X, Singh shared his thoughts on the fruitful meeting, saying, “Had a productive discussion with the Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy PM, and Minister of Defence of UAE, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in New Delhi.”
The talks primarily focused on strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and the UAE. Singh highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation in key areas like defence, co-production, co-development projects, and technology innovation.
He further stated, “For India, the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the UAE is of immense priority. We look forward to deeper collaboration in defence, co-production and co-development, as well as in innovation and technology. Both nations are committed to fostering peace and prosperity in the region,” as per his post.
Earlier in the day, the UAE’s Crown Prince also met with India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar. In his post on X, Jaishankar expressed his appreciation for the Crown Prince’s positive outlook on the growing ties between the two countries. “Delighted to welcome Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Deputy PM & Defence Minister HH @HamdanMohammed at the start of his first official visit to India. I value his positive sentiments towards our wide-ranging cooperation and vibrant ties,” Jaishankar wrote.
The Crown Prince’s visit to India, taking place from April 8 to 9, 2025, is at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Upon arrival, Sheikh Hamdan was warmly greeted with a ceremonial guard of honour and received by Union Minister of State for Tourism and Petroleum and Natural Gas, Suresh Gopi.
This marks the Crown Prince's first official visit to India in his role as the Crown Prince of Dubai. (ANI)
