A man has been arrested for stealing a phone and then transferring more than MVR 50,000 to another account from the stolen phone.
Police identified the suspect as 25-year-old Abdullah Saif from Noonu Atoll Lhohi.
They also said that the suspect has been remanded in custody for 5 days by the Criminal Court.
According to the court order, Saif stole someone's phone and transferred the money shortly afterward. The investigation so far has revealed that the money from the stolen phone was transferred to Saif’s account.
Police added that they were further investigating the case.
