Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital IGMH says the man wounded in the house fire in Alifu Alifu Rasdhoo has been sent abroad for further treatment.
A media official from the hospital confirmed that the critically injured man was taken abroad yesterday.
This comes 2 days after he was taken off the ventilator following severe burns due to the house fire in Rasdhoo.
The man and his wife were wounded in a fire that started in their room earlier this month. Both had serious burns on 80 percent of their bodies and were put on ventilators.
Tragically, the woman succumbed to her injuries last Monday.
IGMH had flown in Burns and Plastic Surgeon Dr. Shailash V. Ranaad from India's Batia Hospital in Mumbai to assist in the treatment.
Authorities have yet to confirm how the fire broke out in the couple's home. Reports confirmed that though the fire started in their room, the room did not have much fire damage.
