President Dr Mohamed Muizzu appointed Supreme Court Justice Hussain Shaheedh as a member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC). The appointment ceremony was held at the President’s Office this morning.
During the ceremony, the President presented the appointment letter to Hon. Uz Hussain Shaheedh. Hon. Uz Hussain Shaheedh signed his appointment letter upon being sworn in.
The President made the appointment per Article 158(b) of the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives and Article 3(2) of the Judicial Service Commission Act, as a Judge of the Supreme Court, other than the Chief Justice, elected by the Supreme Court.
Before his appointment, Judge Hussain Shaheedh took his oath in the presence of the President, with Supreme Court Justice Hon. Dr Mohamed Ibrahim administering the oath. Following the ceremony, he signed the oath of office as well.
Supreme Court Judge Hussain Shaheedh, a seasoned legal professional, has also served as the High Court's Chief Judge and Judge at the Criminal Court. He holds a Master of Islamic Judicial Science, Sharia Policy, and Jurisprudence and Law, LLB.
