President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu says the government is implementing transformative projects that will shape the future of sport in the nation.
He said this in his International Day of Sport for Development and Peace message.
The President said the plan of establishing Fitness and Recreation Centres on every island over the next two years will ensure equal access to proper facilities for physical activities and well-being for all the locals in our geographically dispersed island nation.
He said that as a result, this initiative will extensively promote healthier lifestyles, support mental well-being, and concurrently serve as a hub for youth engagement, social inclusion, and community development.
The President noted that the administration is in the process of establishing a long-term growth approach for sport through the development of a 20-year National Sports Development Plan.
He said that this ambitious plan will drive the decentralization of sports, ensuring that talent enhancement, training programs, and competitions are accessible nationwide.
He added that this will create an environment where all aspiring athletes and sports enthusiasts can thrive, regardless of where they live.
