Two people have suffered severe burns to their bodies in a house fire reported in Alifu Alifu Rasdhoo last night.
The two people injured in the incident have been confirmed as a man and his wife. Authorities said that the fire broke out in their room while they slept.
Sources have said that the woman had suffered burns on 90 percent of her body, which is considered a very severe and most times fatal injury. News reports also said that the man too suffered serious burns on his body.
The couple have been transferred to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Male for further treatment. The hospital did confirm to the news outlet that they were being treated in the Emergency Room of the hospital but refrained from giving any more information.
The cause for the fire is yet to be determined.
