Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has condemned the attack against MDP activist Mariyam Zubair (Mandhy) who was doused with black oil last night.
After the MDP protest yesterday, Mandhy was on her way home when people wearing helmets and masks threw a bottle of black oil at her on Majeedhee Magu.
Videos on social media showed that Mandhy's face and hair were covered with oil and the vehicle she was traveling on was also covered in oil.
In a post on social media, the former President condemned the blatant attack against the MDP activist.
He described the act as an attempt to silence the people and intimidate everyone criticizing the government’s blind policies.
Solih said that MDP would not be shocked by such intimidation and pressure and would continue its peaceful political activities for the sake of the people.
Mandhy has been at the fore front of the media after her comments about President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's family grabbed headlines and prompted First Lady Saajidha Mohamed to take action against her.
Mandhy has made unconfirmed accusations against the First Couple's 16-year-old son saying that the government placed a ban on vaping because he had started vaping.
