Police have arrested three in an anti-narcotics operation carried out in Villimale'.
They said that the operation was carried out on the 9th of this month and that the operation was carried out based on a tip received by the counter-narcotics intelligence unit.
Three local men were arrested in the operation, and Police identified the suspects as 30-year-old Ibrahim Imad, 43-year-old Mohmed Simrah, and 45-year-old Salah Shihab.
Police said that they searched the suspects after apprehending them and found substances alleged to be drugs on their person. Police noted that the alleged substance weighed around 57.78 g.
They further said that they also found MVR 241,000 cash on them, which Police believe they got from peddling drugs.
Two of the suspects, Simrah and Salah, were remanded in custody for 15 days, while 30-year-old Imad was released.
Therefore, the case has been sent to the Prosecutor General's Office for appeal.
