The Deputy Mayor of Male' City and Councillor for Maafanu Central Constituency of Male' Ahmed Nareesh has resigned from his posts.
He has already sent his resignation letter to Male' city Mayor, Adam Azim.
Nareesh said on a post on social media that he was resigning from the Council because he had received the opportunity to serve the country and the people in another capacity. He did not share any more information about the reason for his sudden resignation but thanked all who helped him win the seat in the last local council election.
Nareesh also said his time on the council was a happy time for him in employment and work and that it was a good opportunity to shape his personality.
He said the lessons he learned from the council during his tenure as a member of the city will give him more energy to succeed in whatever field he works in the future.
Nareesh was appointed as the Deputy Mayor of Male' City back in 2021 with votes from 12 out of the 19 Councillors on the Male' City Council.
