The Ministry of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works have introduced a token system in the Greater Male' area to distribute the Tuna packs given by the government to each household this year for Ramadan.

State Trading Organization STO teamed up with the Ministry to distribute the packs in the capital city last Thursday but chaos ensured as hundreds queued up to receive the free tuna packs.

The Ministry said that it has now introduced a token system to ensure efficient distribution of the packs in the greater Male' area.

It said that more locations have now been designated as distribution centers including 8 centers in Male' alone. The Ministry said that tokens would be released online starting at 06:00 pm today via this link.

The Ministry also said that since the country is experiencing extremely hot days, tuna packs would only distributed during the night and distribution will continue from 08:00 pm to 12:00 am.

It further said that tuna packs would be distributed till all the households received the packs.

The locations for distribution include;

  • MIFCO main building (200 tokens)
  • MTCC Sawmill (200 tokens)
  • Henveriu Stadium (100 tokens)
  • Galolhu Stadium, Step 1 (50 tokens)
  • Galolhu Stadium, Step 2 (50 tokens)
  • Galolhu Stadium, Step 3 (50 tokens)
  • Galolhu Stadium, Step 4 (50 tokens)
  • Social Center, (100 tokens)
  • Villimale' Wamco site (100 tokens)
  • Umar Zahir Building, Hulhumale' phase 1 (100 tokens)
  • Polco tower, C block, Hulhumale' phase 1 (100 tokens)
  • Hulhumale Hiya Tower 10, Phase 2 (100 tokens)
  • Kamil Didi Pre-school, Phase 2 (100 tokens)

The new system for tuna packs was introduced after many criticized the government for the long queues and lack of arrangement.
