President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has officially designated Bodufinolhu Island as part of Gan Island, located in Laamu Atoll.
This change was implemented through amendments to Presidential Decree No. 05/2025, which was issued on Friday.
These amendments were made under the Decentralisation Act (Act No. 07/2010), section 56-1, subsection (a), granting the President the authority to designate areas for City and Island Councils.
The newly formed chart of Gan Island has now been codified and published in the Government Gazette.
