President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has conveyed greetings from the Government and the people of the Maldives to the President of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, the Government, and the people of Singapore on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

In his letters to the President and Prime Minister of Singapore, President Dr. Muizzu expressed appreciation for the close ties between the two countries and emphasized his optimism for the future of the bilateral partnership.

He expressed his hope for greater collaboration in the future to jointly find new opportunities for the mutual benefit of the people of both countries. Reflecting on trade ties and people-to-people connections between the Maldives and Singapore, President Dr Muizzu noted that the concurrent increase in high-level exchanges had played an instrumental role in advancing diplomatic ties.

President Dr Muizzu further conveyed his personal best wishes for the good health and well-being of President Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Wong and the progress and prosperity of the people of Singapore.

The Maldives and Singapore established formal diplomatic relations on February 20, 1975.

The President also shared a message on his official 'X' account to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Singapore.
