The Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology says it will deport expatriates working in the Maldives who have not updated their biometric data by next month.
The Ministry is collecting the biometric data of all the foreigners working in the Maldives under its "Kurangi Program".
It said that all foreigners must update their data by 20th of April.
The Ministry has instructed employers outside of the Greater Male' Area to coordinate with the island councils to update the biometric data of the expatriates under their employment by the 1st of next month.
Meanwhile, employers in the Greater Male' area have been instructed to update the biometric data by the 15th of next month.
Additionally, employers of foreigners in resorts, safaris, agricultural villages and other industrial islands have been ordered to update the data via the joint operation center established at the National Information Technology NCIT or with the nearest island council by the 15th of April.
The Ministry warned that employers who do not update biometric information would be suspended and eventually kicked out of the Expat system.
