President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the government is working to release the temporary list of recipients of flats to be awarded under the Gedhoruveriya Housing Scheme.
During his address to the Parliament today, President Muizzu said that this administration prioritizes establishing the legitimacy of the initial list of recipients of the 4,000 flats as the Anti-Corruption Commission was investigating the matter.
The President said that the verification process would be completed by this month and that it would be published this February.
President Muizzu also said that the flats will be handed over to the recipients as they are being completed and all the flats will be handed over to their rightful owners before the end of September this year.
He announced that a project to build 4,000 social housing units in the Gulhifalhu with the help of Indian concessional finance would be underway this year.
The President further said that the administration has planned social housing projects in Male', Villimale' and Hulhumale'.
