The Parliament has approved the appointment of Moomina Waheed as the Vice President of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives.
Moomina is a member of HRCM and was appointed as the VP of the Commission after former Vice President Ahmed Adhuham Abdullah resigned from the post.
At the extraordinary session of the parliament held today, all 67 MPs who took part in the vote, favored Moomina.
Moomina worked at HRCM for 9 years after she joined the Commission back in 2004.
She then left for posts at the Tree top Hospital and the Economic Ministry before she was selected as a commission member back in 2020.
Four other members are currently on the Commission including President of the Commission Maryiam Muna, Aminath Shifaath Abduh Razzaq, Samau Ahmed Najeeb, and Ismail Habeeb.
