Maldives Democratic Party MDP says it has decided to lift various measures taken against the party members in different cases.
The MDP National Assembly meeting held on Wednesday night decided to lift the sanctions imposed on various members over behavioral issues.
The Party said that it took this decision to include as many members in its work as the main opposition party.
With this decision, measures taken against party founding members as well as long-standing members would also be lifted.
In 2014, former MDP Chairman Musa Manik (Riko Musa) was expelled from the party for violating the whip line issued by the parliamentary group.
In 2023, he rejoined the MDP and decided to contest for the post of Malay City President of the MDP, but was not allowed to contest the party's posts for five years.
