Maldives Meteorological Services, the Met Office has issued an orange alert over two Atolls in the south of the country.
The Orange Alert was issued over Gaafu Alifu and Gaafu Dhaalu Atolls.
The Alert said that torrential rains and thunderstorms were expected over the two Atolls between 12:50 p.m. and 03:00 p.m. today.
The Met Office also said that possible flooding was expected in the region.
It had initially issued a yellow alert for the bad weather in the south but quickly upgraded the alert to orange. Orange is the second most severe alert color being used by the Met Office with only Red Alert ahead of it.
The Maldives has been experiencing bouts of bad weather in the last couple of weeks as last week an orange alert was issued over the central Atolls and heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in the region especially the capital Male'.
