The new CEO of Maldives Industrial Fisheries Dr. Vitaliy Lyubimov has made it clear that any future political interference or attempts to influence MIFCO's management would not be tolerated.

MIFCO said that earlier this week, Dr. Lyubimov made a significant leadership appointment, naming Ahmed Nasir as the new General Manager of the Human Resources Department.

Nasir, with his extensive experience and expertise in human resources management, was deemed the ideal candidate to lead the department during this pivotal time for the company. This appointment marks the first major personnel decision under Dr. Lyubimov’s leadership.

However, MIFCO said that the appointment was not without controversy. It noted that attempts were made by external political forces to influence the selection process, advocating for the appointment of another candidate. This represents the first instance of unauthorized political interference in the operational activities of MIFCO under the new CEO’s leadership. The lobbied candidate was ultimately rejected, and the CEO responded firmly to the situation.

In a statement, Dr. Lyubimov made it clear that any future political interference or attempts to influence MIFCO's management would not be tolerated. He vowed to publicly name and disclose the individuals involved in such activities across all available open sources. The CEO emphasized that he would not hesitate to take all necessary measures to prevent any recurrence of these incidents, including contacting higher authorities to demand the removal of those involved in political manipulation.

Any attempt to exert political pressure on the company’s operations will be met with immediate action. There will be zero tolerance for such interference, and I will ensure full transparency by sharing the identities of those attempting to influence the company
Dr. Lyubimov, CEO of MIFCO

Dr. Lyubimov stressed that his leadership is focused on enhancing trust in MIFCO and fulfilling the company's mission, which is why he was invited to lead the organization by the government of the Republic of Maldives.

The main requirement for selecting a candidate for the position was the CEO's guarantee to adhere to MIFCO's sustainable policy of counteracting political influence on its operations, ensuring that this policy would be fully observed regardless of political parties

Currently, the CEO is overseeing a thorough evaluation of MIFCO’s operational processes. Following this analysis, a comprehensive program aimed at the company’s sustainable development will be presented to the relevant government officials, outlining the path forward for MIFCO under Dr. Lyubimov's leadership.

The commitment to transparency, independence, and professionalism is central to the new CEO’s vision for MIFCO, as the company continues to strengthen its position in the Maldives’ fisheries sector while safeguarding against political interference.
