Maldives Water and Sewerage Company MWSC has suspended Deputy Managing Director Mohammed Fazeel Rasheed amid allegations that he was illegally allocated land plots under the Binveriya Scheme.
Fazeel, who is the brother of the Managing Director of Housing Development Corporation HDC Fazul Rasheed, is among the names of individuals who received the land plots despite not being included in the land recipient list of the Binveriya Scheme.
MWSC said that Fazeel has been suspended from all responsibilities and suspended from office to fully assist the investigation into the matter.
It also said that this was a decision made by the company's board.
Police raided the office of HDC yesterday evening in pursuit of the allegations against the company.
Earlier today, the Privatization and Corporization Board suspended MD Fazul and the entire board of HDC pending the police investigation.
