Police have reported that a crew member from a vessel traveling from Addu City to the capital Male' is missing.
Police said the crew member aboard the Seamax vessel was reported missing last night. They said that the missing foreigner was a Nepalese national named Raj Kumar.
They said the preliminary investigation showed that the missing man was onboard when the vessel left the docks in Addu City around 11:30 at night.
They also stated that Raj Kumar had spoken to the vessel's captain around 1:15 in the morning. Police said that the crew noticed that he was missing when the vessel was 8 miles off Fuvahmulah City.
Maldives National Defence Force MNDF have begun a search operation for the missing foreigner while the police have launched an investigation into his disappearance.
