The Commissioner of Police, Ali Shujau, says that authorities will ask for foreign assistance when investigating the massive fire that destroyed the Green Building in Maafannu ward.
Thursday's fire completely destroyed three Ministries, including the Housing, Construction, and Environment Ministries, along with the Vital Registration department of the Male City Council.
The operations of the three Ministries have been moved to Dharubaaru Ge while the City Council's department has been shifted to its office in Hulhumale'.
Speaking about the investigation today at a press conference, CP Shujau said the Police force used all its resources to assist the MNDF during the fire.
The CP assured that police would continue to investigate such a major incident and would also seek the assistance of a foreign team in the investigation.
He said the team will work with the relevant authorities in the next few days to make arrangements to work with the police investigation team.
CP Shujau that the area where the fire occurred has now been handed over to the police. He said Police forensic teams are working in the area and CCTV footage is being analyzed.
He also said statements are being taken from the first witnesses of the fire and information from others.
