Police have arrested two foreigners after they were caught with more than 120 bottles of liquor in a house in Male'.
A tip from the counter-narcotics intelligence prompted a raid of the house in Henveiru ward in Male'. During the raid, Police seized 122 bottles of liquor from the house and also arrested the two men.
Police said 116 500 ml bottles and six 5 liter bottles of suspected liquor were recovered from the suspects during a court-ordered search of their residence on Thursday
The two suspects have been identified as Sri Lankan nationals. One is a 21-year-old named Nurukushan Kavind Singapura, while the other is a 27-year-old named Patti Vithanlage Vimosha Vithange.
Police stated that both suspects have now been handed over to Immigration officials who will deport the suspects back to Sri Lanka.
They added that they were further investigating the case.
