Immigration authorities have raided 2 accommodation blocks in Hulhumale' and detained several undocumented foreigners last night.

Immigration said that the two blocks that were raided last night posed dangers to public health and that 14 foreigners were detained in the raid.

It said this includes 9 men apprehended after the search of the first block and the 5 others detained from the second accommodation block.

The foreigners detained from the second block include 3 men and 2 women.

Immigration regularly conducts raids across the Greater Male' Area to weed out foreigners working and living in the country with the proper documents.

In the first year of this administration, it deported more than 5,000 illegal foreigners.
