National Disaster Management Authority NDMA says 110 houses from 10 islands were damaged due to rainfall and flooding up until November of this year.
NDMA said that the buildings were damaged and household items were also damaged in the rainfall and flooding. It noted that the cost of the damage went up to MVR 1.1 million.
Lhaviyani Atoll Kurendhoo had reported the most damage in rainfall and flooding this year with 97 houses on the island reporting damage to NDMA.
Other islands include Dhaalu Bandidhoo, Dhaalu Hulhudhelhi, Gaafu Dhaalu Madaveli, Haa Dhaalu Nadella, Noonu Maafaru, Raa Rasmaadhoo, Seenu Feydhoo, and Seenu Maradhoo Feydhoo.
The NDMA said the damage to the houses has been assessed and assistance has been proposed under the Disaster Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Damage Assistance Regulations.
