The Maafaru International Airport has resumed international operations.
Aviators Maldives said this was to bolster the region’s connectivity and cater to the growing demand for luxury travel.
The Noonu-Atoll-based airport was initially opened back in December of 2019. The airport was funded by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.
Aviators Maldives reported that the airport was recently closed to facilitate significant upgrades, including the extension of the runway and the addition of more apron space.
It also said that these enhancements are designed to accommodate larger aircraft and increase the airport’s capacity, ensuring it can meet the growing demand for international travel.
