Police have arrested a local man who assaulted, threatened, and robbed his mother.
They identified the suspect as 28-year-old Mohamed Ismail from Haa. Ehadi, Male'.
Police recounted they received a report of a woman crying from an apartment in the Hiya flats in Hulhumale Phase 2. Police said when their officers knocked on the door, a woman answered.
Citing the woman, Police said the woman's son, suspect Mohamed Ismail had assaulted her and threatened to kill her with a knife. Police said the suspect had also robbed a phone from his mother.
Police said they arrested the suspect today under a court-issued arrest warrant. Police also said the victim was treated at the hospital and discharged.
They added that they were further investigating the case.
