Speaker of the Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdullah has rejected MDP's emergency motion on the stalled Israel passport ban bill which has been at the committee stage for months.
MP for Galolhu North Constituency Ahmed Ibrahim submitted the motion to the parliament today.
In his emergency motion, he said the government has failed to take any strong action except condemning Israel's massacre in Palestine.
He said the motion to ban Israeli passports has been stalled in parliament for more than four months and called for the ban to be expedited.
However, the Speaker stated that the motion did not meet the conditions required and rejected the motion.
MDP submitted the bill banning the Israeli passport and the government supported the bill. The bill was forwarded to the Parliament's Security Services Committee with votes from more than 88 MPs.
