President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the Administration is taking concrete steps toward banning vaping.

In a post on his official X account, President Dr Muizzu stated that he has instructed the relevant authorities to initiate the necessary actions to prohibit the import of vaporizer devices, accessories, and parts starting from November 15, 2024.

Additionally, from December 15, 2024, the ban will include the possession, use, manufacturing, sale, promotion, and free distribution of vaporizer devices throughout the country.

Meanwhile, Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusan lauded the President's decision as a decision the whole country would forever be grateful for.

The Minister described vaping as something that easily turns the youths of the country towards a life of narcotics and drugs.

The President's decision came amid growing concern from the medical community over the negative effects of vaping.

Vaping is when you use a handheld electronic device to breathe a mist (“vapor”) into your lungs.

An e-cigarette, vape pen, or other electronic nicotine delivery system (ENDS) heats a liquid of nicotine, flavoring, propylene glycol, and other additives into an aerosol that you inhale through a mouthpiece.
