The Health Ministry has asked the Police to help them close down Fazy's Hijama Therapy Clinic which offers Hijama also known as cupping, an ancient healing technique used for centuries to treat various health problems.
Police said the Ministry has filed a report at the Police about a clinic in Hulhumale that is offering Hijama services without acquiring the appropriate permits from the Ministry.
They further said that they were actively investigating the case.
Back in 2022, the Ministry ordered the Clinic to halt services as it was operating without the required permits.
The Ministry of Health stated the provision of health services without registration on the 11th of this month.
The Ministry of Health said that any health service provider must register and obtain an operating license as per the Regulations on Operation of Health Services.
The statement said that the Ministry of Health has noticed that indigenous medicine and Hijama services are being provided without being registered with the Ministry of Health and obtaining a license.
It is also an offense to provide any kind of health services without registration and license and action will be taken against such persons under the Health Services Act.
