Chief Spokesperson at the President's Office, Heena Waleed, has stated that maintaining the safety and security of the streets of the Maldives, including Male', is a top priority for President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. She made these remarks during a press conference held at the President's Office today.
The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed also joined the press conference.
Heena Waleed emphasized the President's strong commitment to road safety, referencing a recent post on the social media platform 'X' that clearly articulated the significance of ensuring safe and secure roadways.
She expressed confidence in finding solutions, as the President has directed relevant authorities to implement eight specific measures in response to recent incidents.
She stated these measures include increasing Police personnel on the streets, enhancing monitoring activities, and extending these initiatives to islands.
Heena stressed the importance of adhering to existing laws and regulations regarding road safety and urged the public to take personal responsibility for their safety.
