Police have released two women who were arrested for protesting outside of several diplomatic missions against the continuing Israeli military aggression and genocide in occupied Palestine and Gaza.

Aishath Shadhiya of Maafannu Badikulhimaage and Dr. Shazra Ibrahim from Gaafu Dhaalu Rathafandhoo Lily were arrested on the 28th of last month.

Police said that the two were arrested under a court order for making noise in the area where they were gathered, refusing to respond to police orders to leave the area, and obstructing police duty.

The two are being accused of repeatedly gathering near diplomatic missions in violation of the Freedom of Peaceful Assembly Act, shouting and communicating in rude language, acting in a manner that disrupts the work of diplomatic missions, and acts of harassment by a certain ambassador.

While the two were remanded in custody on two previous occasions, the women were released today with conditions not to protest outside the diplomatic missions in the Maldives.
